(2007 Vintage) Supple and inviting with aromas of dark cherry and ripe Italian plums, the 2007 Magnificat is a rich and elegant interpretation of the traditional Bordeaux blend. Accentuated with notes of clove and tobacco, the Magnificat delivers Franciscan's signature concentration in deep layers of integrated boysenberry, dark cherry, and cocoa flavors. The mouthfeel is full and round, with warm complexity and notes of anise and mocha on the lengthy finish.

Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(2005 Vintage) 73% Cabernet Sauvignon; 23% Merlot; 4% Bordelais reds. With decently focused cassis-like fruit as its central theme and accents of cocoa and sweet oak in support, this wine finds its full-bodied, supple texture set against decently fruited, somewhat coarsely grained impressions, and that slight edginess stays around until the finish. A bit of cellaring is needed.
