Franciscan Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

Wine Details

Wine Description

(2013 Vintage) Deep garnet with a lovely plum nose and rich fruit with layers of complexity. Hints of licorice, vanilla, blackberry, tobacco, and leather envelop the fruit. Ripe entry of cherries and cassis showcases a full, well-structured palate. Textured and rich, the mouthfeel is balanced and generous showing layers of ripe berries, black pepper, mocha, and spice. A very long finish that leads you to another sip

(2000 Vintage) 5% Merlot; 5% Cabernet Franc. Although launched by its nicely composed aromas of very rich oak and deep, precisely focused black currant fruit, this tight, slightly stiffly balanced Cabernet runs up against acid-pushed tannins at the eleventh hour, and never quite fulfills its early promise. Set it aside for a few years to let it find a softer stance.
