Pinot Gris

Wine Description

(From 2008 Vintage) This straightforward, fruit effort is bright, tart, and full of lemon and melon flavors, with a touch of spice for added interest.

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2013 Vintage) With scents of sweet pear and almonds, fresh acidity, and flavors of baking spice and ripe peaches that linger on the palate, Elk Cove’s estate pinot gris is a definite crowd pleaser. A delicious example of Oregon pinot gris that's substantial and concentrated with exotic melon and peach flavors, mineral notes and a kick of fresh peppercorn.

If fairly low-keyed and lower in substance than its riper, more outgoing mates, this friendly, clean-as-can-be effort delivers a nice note of green peach to its lightly minerally flavors and will do fine service with lighter shellfish dishes yet can also be enjoyed as a stand-alone afternoon quaffer.
