(2010 Vintage) When opening a bottle of Assyrtiko-Athiri, the eye is captivated by the bright straw blonde color and light green shades. The nose of wine is dominated by ripe citrus fruit, with lemon coming to the fore, while its excellent structure and acidity compliment its nose granting vibrancy and a lingering aftertaste.
Wine & Spirits(2009 Vintage) Rating: 90/100 - As reviewed by Wine & Spirits Magazine on 08/09. Unusually forward, this plays guava and pink grapefruit flavors off chalky, pithy minerality. It's as if every flavor were magnified, pointed up by the wine's driving acidity and bright green herb notes. Meanwhile, the structure remains tight, holding more flavor in reserve. Drink it slowly with lamb in avgolemeno, a creamy lemon sauce, or cellar it for another five to eight years.
