  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
Smelling faintly of dark chocolate and a touch of old wood, this rugged, big-bodied wine is accented with hints of black pepper and earth and runs up against a fair bit of blunting tannin at the finish. Its slightly jammy fruit keeps it in the game and, even if you like them rough and rugged, this one will benefit from a few years of cellar time.
