Winemaker's Notes

(From 1997 Vintage) Harvest 1997 was yet another early year. From vines over 100 years old which give fruit of remarkable concentration, this is Contra Costa Mourvedre par excellence. The Ancient Vines Mourvedre, grown in the warm, sandy soils of Oakley California, produces a wine that has a distinct chocolate character. The tannins are soft and the wine has good weight in the mouth while the flavours and aromas of cherry and mint help make this delicious wine an unusual delight.
