Chateau Margaux Margaux 1er Grand Cru Classé

Wine Description

(2007 Vintage) Medium bright ruby. Compellingly perfumed nose of boysenberry, cassis, graphite, licorice and violet. Suave on entry, then imploded in the middle and extremely slow to show itself. Very pure, understated black fruit, licorice and bitter chocolate flavors are like an essence of cabernet. Savory rather than particularly sweet: there's nothing easy or obvious about this wine today. A dry and classic style; the tannins are tight for a young Margaux but not hard, and the finishing flavors are vibrant and perfumed.

RP92 Drink 2010-2025 The elegant 2007 Chateau Margaux’s purity, depth of fruit, and overall equilibrium are impressive. A dark ruby/purple color is accompanied by notes of spring flowers, black currants, and blackberries, a soft, lush, medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, and delicacy allied to impressive depth, texture, and length. Already drinkable, it should continue to offer exceptional pleasure for 15 or more years.

Wine is due in Spring/Summer of 2008."This is another superb vintage from this grand dame estate. Administrator Paul Pontallier has overseen the production of so many great Margaux, it is senseless to say 2005 is better than all its predecessors, but it is an extraordinary effort. A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15%...
