2007 Chateau Doisy Vedrines Sauternes

Wine Description

(From 2010 Vintage) The result is a wine of honeyed sweetness, with rapier-like acidity and a wonderful lightness of touch.

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2008 Vintage) The ripe fruits go straight to the heart of this powerful, orange peel and citrus wine. There are yellow fruits, balanced with fresh acidity. The ensemble is rich, but balanced.

Sweet, Peach, Apricot, Full-Bodied Wine Advocate - Barsac, Bordeaux, France-"Nose of apricot, peach, a touch of spice, mandarin. Full-bodied, fine acidity cutting through the rich honey, quince and apricot fruit, with great definition and vitality towards the botrytis-rich finish. There is real pedigree here. Benchmark Doisy-Vedrines." Wine Advocate (93 points) "This has a much more precocious nose than other 2007s: honey, apricot, peach, a touch of spice, mandarin and a soupcon of warm alcohol, in other words, quintessential Doisy-Vedrines. The palate is full-bodied, viscous on the entry and maintaining good balance, fine acidity cutting through the rich honey, quince and apricot fruit, with great definition and vitality towards the botrytis-rich finish. There is real pedigree here, and the 2007 surely represents their best wines since the triumvirate of 88, 89, and 90. This is a benchmark Doisy-Vedrines." Drink 2015-2045.

(From 2003 Vintage) The 1989 is an unctuous and viscous wine, with a chewy, heavy-weight style, low acidity, mamoth size, and splendidly concentrated fruit suggestive of superripe, honeyed pineapples. Perhaps it comes down to personal taste, but in this case the 1989 seems to have even more complexity and botrytis than the excellent 1988. Anticipated maturity 1993-2010.

(From 2001 Vintage) Rating: 4/5 - As reviewed by Decanter. Very distinctive fruit on the nose, with citric elements, freshness and elegance. Taste is very rich and opulent, although it lacks some elegance at the moment. Ready 2008 onwards. (Tasted en primeur)
