2007 Chateau Cantemerle Haut-Medoc

Wine Description

Good deep color, attractive fragrant fruit, quite fully and nicely ripe on attack, just a touch of green in the middle, but a very well-made wine in this year and more weight than usual.

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2011 Vintage) Attractively aromatic, fruit, charm and spice from the Merlot, elegant firmness from the Cabernet and overall finesse and balance.

  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
(From 2005 Vintage) Smelling a bit riper than many from this section of the Left Bank, the wine starts with aromas of currants and berries with toasty oak in hot pursuit. It is, however, less complete in its flavors that suggest a bit of concentration but fall short on depth and drift into muscular dryness at the finish. It has a good chance to find a more open stance in time, and it would not be the worst idea to take a chance by laying away a few bottles.
