The free run wine used (natural flow-off the juice after alcoholic fermentation), gives this wine a greater purity and finesse. This wine starts out rather lifted with ripe plummy fruit, milk chocolate on the nose. Some liquorice, graphite and peach stone. Light to medium bodied palate with refreshing acidity, tannic astringency and stewed redcurrant, and maraschino fruit. Notes of pronounced animality, apple core, tea leaves, mint, cedar, decaying vegetals, violets and liquorice. Mid-length finish. All of these qualities give the Les Petites Roches cuvée a capacity to age for several years. Decant this for at least 1/2 hour to take advantage of it's full flavor.
