Wine Description

(From 2011 Vintage) With a remarkable level of concentration and complexity, and a sense of place that speaks volumes about our vineyards, this wine represents the very best from an exceptional vintage on Pritchard Hill. From its dark, incredibly saturated color to its intense aromas of baked blackberry, dark cherry, crème de cassis, plum and anise this wine is layered, rich and sophisticated. On the palate, notes of espresso, dark chocolate and toasted oak, support beautiful ripe fruit and spice flavors, with seamless, mouthcoating tannins adding power and longevity.

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2009 Vintage) The most sought-after of all Chappellet wines, this limited‐production Cabernet Sauvignon represents the pinnacle of Chappellet winemaking, and embodies the elegant power and complexity of Pritchard Hill winegrowing. From its dark, incredibly saturated color to its intense aromas of baked blackberry, dark cherry, creme de cassis, plum and anise this wine is layered, rich and sophisticated. On the palate, notes of espresso, dark chocolate and toasted oak, support beautiful ripe fruit and spice flavors, with seamless, mouthcoating tannins adding power and longevity. Despite its epic nature, there is also a liveliness and radiance to this wine that gives it poise, precision and balance.
The Pritchard Hill is one of owner, Molly Chappellet's favorites. Her and husband Donn, co-founded Chappellet Winery in 1967, and have since passed it on to their children, including daughter Carissa Chappellet. Molly is known as an artist, entertainer and James Beard Award winner for her book "A Vineyard Garden."
