Winemaker's Notes

(From «nv» Vintage) Our Castle Rock Pinot Noir is produced from grapes grown in Sonoma County, which is recognized as one of the finest Pinot Noir growing regions in California. Here, the marine influences from the Pacific Ocean provide cooling breezes which give ideal conditions for Pinot Noir grapes, characterized by rich crisp fruit flavors. This elegant well-balanced wine offers aromas of red fruit and spice. On the palate, there are flavors of plum and cherry with oak nuances, and the finish is long and harmonious.

  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
Castle Rock specializes in surprising the world by making lots of priceworthy Pinot Noir even though common knowledge insists that no such result is possible with this persnickety variety. Yet here, in these first two wines, are Pinots that smell and taste as they should, with this one featuring red cherry fruit aligned with hints of richness not usually seen at the price. It is medium-full in body, supple in feel and thoroughly enjoyable. 20% Syrah. GOOD VALUE
