(From 2000 Vintage) Montepulciano is one of the world's oldest grape varieties and thrives in the Abruzzo region of Italy, mid-way along the eastern coast. A small amount of Sangiovese is vinified with the Montepulciano to soften its massive tannins, as required by the DOC regulations.
