(From 2009 Vintage) Handcrafted with cutting-edge winemaking worthy of our highest quality grapes, the 2009 vintage boasts exceptionally powerful yet elegant flavors. The highly saturated aromas and expansive, richly textured flavors brim with deep blackberry and cassis expression.
(From 2009 Vintage) At our state-of-the-art winery, dedicated exclusively to Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, we hand sorted the grapes first as clusters and then as destemmed berries to retain only the highest quality fruit. We then fermented 30 percent of the must in new French oak barrels for early and seamless integration of oak aromas and flavors. This technique also enhanced the dense, rich texture and gave suppleness to the muscular tannins, while retaining long aging potential. Following extended skin contact, in-barrel malolactic fermentation and aging, the final blend of individual Cabernet Sauvignon wine lots and a small amount of Petit Verdot was artistically composed by winemaker Jeffrey Stambor and renowned consultant Michel Rolland.
Tasting Notes: Approachable now but can rest for 4-5 years and will last for 20-30 years. With immense concentration, our 2007 Beaulieu Vineyard Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon opens with blackberry, cassis and black plum aromas, with mocha, black licorice, graphite and spicy oak nuances. On the palate, these complex notes echo through the expansive, dark-fruit flavors. The texture is dense and rich, framed by muscular, yet velvety, tannins that ensure even more complexity with bottle aging. This is our flagship wine, worthy of pouring for life’s most important celebrations Ratings: Robert Parker 95 Points -- The phenomenal 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve Georges de Latour is the greatest BV Private Reserve made since the 1970 and 1968. The good news is 11,000 cases were produced. The return of this superb Napa classic is fabulous news, and the brilliance of this wine is evidenced by its opaque purple color and its big, sweet, blackberry, cassis, subtle smoke, graphite, and spicy oak-scented nose. Dense and full-bodied with sweet but substantial tannins, thrilling levels of concentration, texture, and richness, and a heady finish, this wine will benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age, and last three decades or more. It's time to once again fill your cellars with the BV Private Reserve, one of the historic names in California wine folklore.
This is one of the most amazing Cabernet I have ever drank.
Wine & Spirits(From 2000 Vintage) BV's flagship offering, the 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Georges de Latour Private Reserve reveals a saturated ruby/purple color along with an intriguing perfume of black currants, lead pencil shavings, loamy soil, and wood. Medium to full-bodied, ripe, and elegant, this Bordeaux-styled Cabernet finishes a bit short. The aromatics suggest a 90-point wine, and the flavors and finish something in the upper eighties. While it will not rank alongside any of the great BV Private Reserves from the fifties, sixties, seventies, or early eighties, it is a positive development for this historic estate. Anticipated maturity: now-2015.
Wine Spectator(From 2008 Vintage) Impressive for its stylish delicacy, finesse and subtle details, this firm red offers complex loamy earth, cherry, currant and plum flavors that build and gain traction on the finish, where the tannins have a pleasing loamy edge.
