94 Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate94 the aroma is unbelievably good! medium body, heavy fruit, smooth with a little burn from the alcohol, very dry. 2007 Arietta Variation One “A blend of 55 percent Syrah and 45 percent Merlot, the 2007 Variation One reveals smoky bacon notes intermixed with notions of boysenberries, wild flowers, forest floor, pepper and wood spice. Drink this medium- to full-bodied, supple red over the next six to seven years. Andy Erickson makes these wines for the well-known auctioneer, classical pianist and wine personality Fritz Hatton.”

(2005 Vintage) Good deep ruby. Very ripe, syrah-dominated aromas of black fruits, chocolate and meat. Lush, thick and sweet, with an opulence of texture leavened by the wine's serious tannic clout. Kongsgaard describes this as a "reverse blend" , and mentioned the Hermitage lieu-dit Les Bessards as a comparison. He describes 2005 as "a great syrah year." This compellingly deep, chewy wine offers outstanding potential.
