2006 Williams Selyem Westside Road Neighbors Pinot Noir Russian River Valley

Wine Description

(From 2012 Vintage) Dark ruby. Pungent smoke- and spice-accented aromas of raspberry, cherry-cola and zesty minerals. Offers vibrant red fruit and candied rose flavors, with a touch of bitter blood orange adding focus and grip. Shows the urgency of a cooler vintage but with the depth of fruit one expects from wines made from this area. Finishes silky and long, with resonating minerality and excellent spicy persistence.

(From 2007 Vintage) In ‘05 I began blending in a small amount of fruit from our Litton Estate vineyards, and almost 15% of this blend comes from specially selected Litton blocks. • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
A perennial favorite in these pages, this Pinot hails from the very heart of what many, including ourselves, view as one of the top two or three Pinot patches outside of the very best in Burgundy. It starts with exceptionally concentrated fruit redolent of sweet red cherries kissed with notes of vanilla, honey, toast and clove-like spices and continues with a delight-fully supple entry texture and a firming backbone of evident but not intrusive tannins.
