Winemaker's Notes

Medium in body and in color, this wine exhibits a nose of high toned aromas of wild blackberries, pomegranates, sandalwood, Asian spice and roasted marshmallows. The mouth is filled with flavors of tart raspberries, truffles, dried cranberries, racy acids, cardamom and mocha. The bright Coastal acidity and ripe soft tannins accentuate the wild berry flavors which linger into the long finish. Will need some aging time.

  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
(From 2005 Vintage) If a touch less intense and not quite as nuanced as the rest of its kin, this well-defined, eminently fruity offering is nonetheless long on sweet cherries and is given a lift in overall richness by nicely placed oak. It is medium-full-bodied, a bit plump to start and finished with balanced acidity, and, while it is unfair to call it simple just now, it seems likely to develop a little more reach and complexity with age.
