(From 2012 Vintage) The wine is an opaque purple-black with a reddish-blue hue. A powerful fusion of layered rhubarb, dark berries and plums merge with aromas of cedar and tobacco. The palate reveals an underlying complexity of black olive, peat and anise. This wine bursts with dense stewed fruit with smooth and supple tannins leading to a long and harmonious finish.
Blackberry and spice perfume, a hint of white stone and aniseed. Palate: Big, ripe, round and juicy. Vanillan oak complexity with hints of wood smoke. Long soft tannin finish.
Wine & SpiritsDeep ruby. Candied dark berry and kirsch aromas, with slow-building fruitcake and roasted coffee qualities. Thick and almost syrupy, with fat blackberry, bitter cherry and chocolate fudge flavors, a vaguely herbal character and no apparent acidity or tannins. Clings to the palate on the finish like a fruit syrup. This is the style that has made modern Australia's reputation, for better or worse. Fans of elegant wines will likely find this shiraz alarmingly viscous and cloyingly sweet - not to mention lacking in energy and finesse - but it does have its fans.
