(From 2010 Vintage) The 2010 CASK 23 combines the signature perfume notes of FAY vineyard with the structure and minerality of S.L.V. The wine opens with deep red and black cherry aromas along with notes of juicy strawberry, cocoa and spice. The wine has an elegant texture with very fine tannins and great acidity. On the palate the wine is full bodied with rich dark berry fruit with hints of cedar and white truffle that lead to a long fruit and spice driven finish.
Tasted and bougt 06-08 vertical at winery. Excellent and for special occasions.
It's so good you'll have to kill yourself afterwords. It's too amazing to live.

Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(From 2005 Vintage) Almost sure to raise controversy with its involving aromas of leather, roasted coffee, scorched chocolate and herbs, this unique offering smacks ever so faintly of Syrah and may not fit the fruity Cabernet model, but its complexity is beyond any argument. Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(From 2003 Vintage) There is no shortfall of richness to this very solid, handsomely oaked wine, and it exhibits fine concentration and overall balance. It is not, at this point at least, quite so complex or as well-polished as it sibling above, and it finishes a bit on the dry side with pushy tannins limiting its commendable fruit. If its need for aging is clear, it is never so tough as to need extended time in the cellar, and we would tag it for drinking after some four or five years.
Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(From 1999 Vintage) 89 Points/96 Points How do you spell controversial? With one of the few split scores ever given by Connoisseurs' Guide. Most tasters loved the power, loved the tightly focused black cherry, slightly dried currant fruit, loved the boldness and the way there is a sense of polish developing in the background, loved the structure that promises to keep the wine going for a couple of decades yet. The dissenting voice questions whether the higher alcohol and the slight bit of stalkiness at the edges wi...
