There is a mix of drama and control in this wine, and it deviates from the expected norm for Rockpile Zinfandels to its great benefit. The depth and intensity possible from wines of the area are certainly evident here but so too is a brighter, more vibrant quality that firms up the wine's back end and finish while adding a bit of aging potential that should see it grow in the bottle.
