(2010 Vintage) This wine is classic cool climate syrah with elegance and balance. On the palate, pure flavors of dried raspberry, blueberry with hints of cola nut that is framed by spice. Whole cluster fermentation enhances the distinctive pepper notes.
Connoisseurs' Guide to California WinesThe lighter, less muscular sibling to the wine above, this nicely composed youngster displays notes of minerals, peppery spice, vanilla and smoked meat but is principally keyed on lively, berry-like fruit. Its finishing tannins, while apparent, are not so severe as to preclude early drinking, but a bit of age will go a long way in rounding off its rough edges.
