(2005 Vintage) Strongly scented with cassis and blackberries and showing a distinct streak of minerals and dark soils in the nose, this fat and full-bodied working is biased just a bit to ripeness in the mouth with deep flavors that play juicy fruit against lots of sweet oak. Arguably a touch hot and showing just a touch of the narrowness that marks many wines of the vintage, it ends with a long and very flavorful finish, and it should hit its best within a half-dozen years.

(2005 Vintage) Inky violet. Seductive spice- and floral-accented blackberry and cassis aromas, with a gentle hint of cured tobacco. Ripe and plush, with sweet dark berry flavors, gentle tannins and an impressively sweet tone on the finish. This is extremely concentrated but there's impressive mineral lift, too.
