  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
(From 2004 Vintage) Contra Costa County Zinfandels tend to be heavy and skewed to chocolaty ripeness, yet this wine, while never less than fully ripe, offers up a convincing dose of genuine fruit and comes up a winner. It is full on the palate, plump and pleasantly rounded in feel, and it keeps its alcohols fairly well-hidden. Its last-minute tannins signal the potential for a few years of keeping, but it is thoroughly enjoyable now.
