Wine Advocate # 173 Oct 2007 Jay Miller (92-95) Drink 2010 - 2022 The 2006 Shiraz 9 was tasted from a barrel sample. It delivers an alluring bouquet of pain grille, smoke, mocha, espresso, and blue fruits. This is followed by a full-bodied, personality-filled Shiraz with blueberry, blackberry liqueur, licorice, and a hint of chocolate emerging on the palate. Opulent, sweet, and lengthy, it will evolve for several years but can read more...be enjoyed now and over the next 12-15 years. International Wine CellarInky ruby color. Smoky dark berries, cherry preserves, cocoa powder and vanilla on the nose. Lush, round and sweet, offering broad dark berry flavors of liqueur-like richness. Soft tannins add a bit of structure and help to rein in the powerful fruit. Clings like glue on the finish, repeating the dark berry and cocoa qualities. Fans of this sort of wine will find my score stingy.
Wine & SpiritsA notable value, the 2008 Marquis Philips Shiraz displays a slightly charred top note from its stay in American oak, but also a pleasant mix of boysenberry, coffee and vanilla flavors. Itrsquo;s creamy and supple, with a soft, mocha-tinged finish. Drink nowndash;2012.
