Wine Description

Maison Louis Jadot was founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot. He quickly developed a reputation as a high quality producer and his aim was to build his reputation as a top quality winemaker in Burgundy. To achieve this aim he continued to purchase vineyards to add to the family's earlier purchase of Beaune Clos des Ursules and Chevalier Montrachet Les Demoiselles vineyards. His Grandson, who took over at the end of WWII continued to build Louis Jadot's Domaine holdings by acquiring Grand Cru vineyards in Corton Pougets and Corton Charlemagne. Vosne Romanée is situated just to read more...the north of Nuits-Saint-Georges. The two greatest vineyards of Vosne and Flagey-Echezeaux, are entitled to use the Vosne-Romanée appellation. "Les Beaux Monts" consists of different contiguous parcels lying astride the border between Vosne Romanée and Flagey Echezeaux, at the western edge of the communes. "Les Beaux Monts" illustrates the unusually high quality of the premiers crus of Vosne Romanée, which are on a level considerably closer to the grands crus than to the village wines. It is a wine of seductive fragrance and satiny texture, full of rich, elegantly full berry flavours and gently spicy undertones, with a delicate yet persistent finish. It will be perfect with game such as pheasant, rabbit or venison, or meats in sauce and strong cheeses. (hide)

A dark, intricate carpeting of fruit, spice, roasted meat, and forest floor detritus is allied here with invigorating salinity and a finishing lift and elegance that typify so many of the best 2006s. This beauty should repay attention for...
