(From 2014 Vintage) The Sauvignon blanc grapes are treated using two different methods. To enhance the delicate tropical fruit flavors, a portion of the fruit goes directly into the press as whole clusters. The remaining fruit is de-stemmed and left in contact with the skins for several hours before pressing, amplifying the grapefruit/citrus components. All of the juice is fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks using a variety of yeast strains selected to bring out the aroma and flavor profiles of Sauvignon Blanc.
(From 2014 Vintage) Bright acidity lends a crisp freshness to the flavors of peach, passionfruit, and lemongrass, artfully balanced by a touch of freshly squeezed grapefruit and lime. Juicy and refreshing, with aromas of jasmine, peach, and grapefruit rind. Medium-bodied, with a lingering finish.
Blend: 95% Sauvignon Blanc, 4% Semillon, 1% Muscat
Appellation AmericaJoining the ranks of families moving to Napa to capture the bucolic lifestyle, Louis Honig purchased a 68-acre ranch in the heart of the Napa Valley in 1964. At this time the Chappellets, Mondavis, Davies’ and other icons were setting up shop as well. It wasn’t until 1981, though, after Louis passed away, that a Honig-labeled wine came to fruition. Up until that point neighboring wineries were purchasing the estate’s sustainably farmed Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Michael, Louis’ grandson, and Elaine Honig took the reigns of this family winery in the early 80s. Today, read more...along with family members Regina Weinstein and Steven Honig the legacy continues. Both wines are good values, and are as pleasurable to encounter as the family members. Elaine is a wonderful ambassador, touring the country to both promote the wines and to host numerous charitable events. Her “Wine, Women, and Shoes” events have raised over a million dollars for women’s charities. Pale straw and moderately viscous, this Sauvignon Blanc is clean with aromas of hay, lemon, dill, and tarragon. Medium bodied, clean, and fresh, the wine has zesty lemon/lime guava fruit and a long refreshing green tea/meyer lemon finish. (hide)
