(From 2005 Vintage) This full-bodied, stylish cabernet from Napa (61 percent) and Sonoma (39 percent) offers pure and intense black cherry and black currant with a distinct Napa style predominating. It's reasonably complex and well-structured and will benefit from age, but can be enjoyed young.
(From 2011 Vintage) Ghost Pines Cabernet Sauvignon has intensely ripe fruit flavors imparted from high elevation vineyards in Lake County. Cabernet grapes from Sonoma and Napa add juicy red and black fruit flavors along with a disciplined structural foundation. The blend of these regions creates aromas and flavors of dark fruit jam and sweet nuts that liken the taste of this wine to oatmeal cookies straight out of the oven.
Another superb value is the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon. A leafy, autumnal vegetal character provides a subtle complexity to the intense black currant fruit. This full-bodied, dense, nicely textured, silky Cabernet Sauvignon should drink well for 5-7 years. These are all super bargains! Made by the Martini family in conjunction with the Gallos ...The Ghost Pines offerings merit serious attention from bargain hunting consumers. Score – 90. Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(From 2005 Vintage) Vinted by Louis M. Martini. This new entry from the Gallo family of wineries carries the Martini name on the bottom line and is said to be from the former Martini vineyards. It earns plaudits for its youthful energy and mid-density fruit, and if a bit firm as it ends, it is not out of keeping with the styling we see in the lower-priced wines from Bordeaux reviewed elsewhere in this Issue. Enjoyable now with steaks and chops, it has the structure to grow with several years of cellaring.
