2006 Flowers Vineyard & Winery Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2012 Vintage) Deep ruby color. Aromas of wild strawberries, cranberries, savory dried herbs and forest floor lift elegantly from the glass. On the palate, flavors of Bing cherry, raspberry, and pomegranate are framed by fine-grained tannins, coastal minerality and bright acidity that culminate on the lengthy finish.

  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
Surprisingly underfilled for Flowers, albeit that the wine smells of Pinot Noir in its cherryish and creme brulee scents, this one is even more of a restrained version of the grape in its reasonably focused but noticeably thin flavors. It is not going to disappoint in service with veal piccata or a seared tuna steak, but it falls just short of full commendation.
