(2004 Vintage) (WA88-90) A deep, sweet nose of charcoal, incense, toasty oak, tar, black cherries, and a hint of truffles jump from the glass of this big, exuberant, flamboyantly-styled 2004 (atypical for this vintage). Medium-bodied with excellent to outstanding concentration, moderate tannin, good freshness, and an attractive, layered mouthfeel, it should age nicely for 12-15 years.
International Wine CellarFull ruby-red. Inky blackberry, black cherry, licorice and minerals on the nose. Sweet and densely packed, with a lush texture but also good enlivening minerality to the blueberry and dark chocolate flavors. Seamless and vinous Saint-Emilion, finishing with very suave tannins and noteworthy length and energy. An outperformer in 2006.
