2006 Chateau Troplong Mondot St. Emilion Grand Cru

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2005 Vintage) Inky/blue/purple-colored with an exceptional bouquet of Asian spices, blueberries, blackberries, truffles, cold steel, graphite, and charcoal, it hits the palate with exceptional purity, laser-like precision, a compellingly concentrated, multilayered mouthfeel, a broad, savory texture, terrific acidity, and substantial, but sweet tannins.

90% Merlot; 5% Cabernet Franc; 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. From its nicely ripened, medium-deep aromas to its extracted flavors and through to its slightly grippy, tannin-firmed finish, this successful effort sports a clear and constant allotment of black cherry fruit. Likely to remain gruff for the next several years, it has the depth to keep well.
