2006 Chateau Pipeau St. Emilion Grand Cru

Winemaker's Notes

A blend of 90% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. It is a wine with expressive fruit, an opulent nose of red berries, roundness on the palate, with good length and a harmonious and elegant finish. Chateau Pipeau is very delightfull when young but it also has all the qualities for laying-down of a really great Saint-Emilion.

(From 2005 Vintage) Rating: 3/5 - As reviewed by Decanter. Plenty of dark, ripe fruit with a toasted oak overlay. Rich and full on the palate with a spicy Syrah-like nuance. Oak rather heavy but if it settles in could be a 4 star wine. Ready 2008-2010. (tasted en primeur)
