(2005 Vintage) Opaque; blackish ruby. An open-plus nose; the ripe black-/raspberry aroma is sweet and plump, with jammy tones brightened by fresh fruit ones, and backed by gentle notes of dark chocolate, vanilla and brown spice. A fine young porto bouquet! The palate shows much of the same juicy and fruity character of the nose, though it seems less evolved, with the solid and -- typical for a Dow's porto -- slightly drier style that is their wont. Very good! Very good body, rich/slightly hot, moderately sweet, some aggressive tannins, with good acidity. A tasty and well structured vintage-style porto that is a perfect accompaniment to a rich chocolate dessert, or just a tipple when you have the craving for something sweet and red.    (hide)
