(WA92) The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is a beautiful wine laced with red berries, flowers and subtle hints of earthiness. Soft and supple throughout, the Brunello shows lovely juiciness in its fruit and a delicate, understated personality. The 2006 represents yet another step in the more elegant, refined direction the estate has taken in recent years. The 2006 Brunello was aged in equal parts cask and French oak barrels. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020.
smooth, no tanins. light red. pairs well with pork or seafood. very drinkable. no food required. goes with cioppino as well
fruity for me. great color and nose. needs a bit of times structured tannins off balance the wine
favourite of the night beating wines from other continents. good representation of Bdm 2004.
purchased 7/10 in montalcino for $35, WS 93 rating, US price $60.
International Wine CellarDeep red-ruby. Plum, cherry, cola, sassafras and menthol on the nose. Supple, spicy, dense and classically dry, with insidious concentration; this is stuffed with material. Very suave Brunello, finishing with fine, sweet tannins and very good length.
