Pinot Noir

By Jonathan H. Newman*92 Points Aged primarily in French Oak for about a year. A ruby red color. Pleasing aromas of red and black fruit including dark cherries, raspberries, and red plum. Good density of bright fruit including pomegranates, black cherries with touches of cola, vanilla and cinnamon. Nice intensity and lush with medium tannins that are rounding nicely into form. Will pair quite nicely with Duckling in a cherry sauce, pork tenderloin, chicken and Seared salmon or Ahi Tuna. WINE DESCRIPTION Our 2006 Estate Pinot Noir comes from recent plantings on our rolling hills in the foggy and cool Carneros sub-appellation of Napa Valley. Bouchaine’s Estate Vineyard is among the southernmost plantings in Napa Carneros and encompasses the highest landmark terraces in this region, so celebrated for its Pinot Noirs. This Pinot is handcrafted from the finest select blocks of our family-owned vineyard and offers depth and power, balanced with grace and elegance. Barrel aged for 11 months in partial new French and Hungarian oak barrels, this wine offers smoky overtones, dark cherries and luscious berries, and a touch of cocoa. With its lingering, smooth finish, this wine shows off the exuberant nature of Bouchaine’s Pinot Noirs. FOOD PAIRING Among the most delectable pairings: grilled or roasted dishes such as spiced pork medallions grilled with wild mushrooms, crispy duck breast with plum glaze, or pan-roasted lamb chops with herbs and shallots. Remember, when in doubt, pair it with Bouchaine Estate Pinot Noir.
