Often, whether to pass or play on a Napa Cabernet from a top producer is determined by your budget. But if you shop carefully, your wallet doesn’t have to restrict your palate. The 2006 Bommarito Napa Cabernet Sauvignon is the perfect example of a fantastic Cab from a world-class winery that won’t break the bank.
Out of the same vats as Whitehall Lane Cabernet Sauvignon -- from arguably one of the busiest tasting rooms for its size along Highway 29 in Napa – the 2006 Bommarito is the winery’s chance to deliver Whitehall Lane Cabernet to the masses at an affordable price. To understand just how special this opportunity is, consider that Whitehall Lane has been honored numerous times for producing wines rated among the top five in the world (in each case for their Cabernet Sauvignon) in Wine Spectator magazine’s year-end ranking of wines. With these unprecedented accolades, Whitehall Lane is recognized as a premier producer of Napa Valley wines.
Cabernet Sauvignon has been transplanted to virtually every continent where there is enough sun to ripen it. Yet, when crafted from Napa Valley wine grapes (particularly those from the famous “Rutherford Dust”), it takes on an impressive, unique character, producing wines that seduce with their opulent fruit.
Don’t miss out on this chance to get your hands on a Cabernet from Whitehall Lane’s prime Valley-floor vineyards at under $20! From the 2006 vintage touted for yielding intense and powerful Cabernet, it’s a release that’s bold and fruity, yet smooth on the finish – a sip of Napa luxury on a budget.
About the Vintner
When Wine Spectator magazine unveils their Top 100 wines of the world each year, Whitehall Lane is a name to watch for. Since 1998, Whitehall Lane has been named three times to this list. Each time they were among the top five, each time for their Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery has also been voted Winery of the Year from the Quarterly Review of Wines and Wine and Spirits Magazine.
As Napa Valley Cab specialists located in St. Helena in the historic Rutherford appellation, Whitehall Lane combines classic old world style with modern winemaking techniques. It’s a formula that’s worked since 1993 when Tom Leonardini purchased the winery. Business is a family affair for the Leonardinis where Tom Leonardini II and his sister Katie work alongside celebrated winemaker Dean Sylvester.
Bommarito is an historic name in the Napa Valley referring to Dominic Bommarito (1889-1963), a Sicilian immigrant who was a pioneer in North Coast California winemaking. Similarly, Whitehall Lane is viewed as screwcap technology pioneers advocating alternative closures in Napa. To protect the integrity of the wine, even their $75 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon uses a Stelvin screwcap.
