Bright red fruit and a wonderful hint of nutmeg is just the tip of the iceberg in this aromatic explosion. That fantastic fruit aroma follows through on the palate that gives freshness to this full-bodied wine. With the tannin that is classic to Spring Mountain.
91 Points, Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate:
"Another superb value is the 2005 Amicus Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain. Aromas of blueberries, black currants, spring flowers, and background subtle wood are followed by a layered, rich, medium to full-bodied Cabernet with sweet tannin and surprising concentration and length. It needs several years of bottle age and should drink well for a decade. " (Dec. 2008)
87 Points, Wine Spectator:
"Notably earthy and dry, with mineral, herbal, leather and dried currant flavors. Full-bodied, this has drying tannins on the finish, yet ends on a complex note. Decant. Drink now through 2014. 224 cases made. –JL" (2009)
86 Points, Wine Enthusiast:
"Made from 100% Cabernet, this wine is very soft and somewhat sweet in pie-filling blackberry, cherry, chocolate and spice flavors. Drink now. S.H." (3/1/2009)
X Winery produces Amicus (Latin for friend) which celebrates the connection between wine and friendship. These wines are very limited in production and represent the best barrels from beautifully farmed vineyards in the Spring Mountain District of the Napa Valley.
The winemaker's vision is to make a wine that is approachable upon release, but will continue to improve with moderate aging and has the longevity of the greatest wines of the world. The release dates of these vary with each vintage. On average it is released three years after harvest.
