(1999 Vintage) Deep red in colour. The aroma is initially very restrained and takes a while to open up (an impatient man would have finished the bottle), some sweet brambleberry jam fruits, undergrowth and nettle-like characters can be found. The flavours are compromised by an excess of extracted, grainy tannin, the red berry fruits do have some attractive facets, but don't really show good varietal expression. A moderately good length of persistence cut short by the raw, aggressive tannins.
