(From 2003 Vintage) Very dense, with loads of raspberry ganache, black currant and fig fruit layered with loam, tobacco, mineral and cedar notes. Lots of grip on the finish, with impressive balance between the tannins, acidity and oak. Built like a Pauillac.
(From 1997 Vintage) This wine is dark ruby with slight copper reflections. The first nose is an amber bouquet of molasses, coffee, caramel, leather, bay and white pepper, which later evolves to reveal a beautiful presence of very ripe blackberries and grilled orange peels, complimented by peat and earthy minerals. On the finish, roasted coffee beans. On the palate, the attack is hearty, full of bitter chocolate and dark berry jam on a smoky background. The tannins are powerful and firm. The rich flavors remain present throughout the lengthy finish.
