2005 Trefethen Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2010 Vintage) Aromas of black currant and savory spices highlight the nose on this beautiful and balanced wine. On the palate, it shows brightness with a touch of earthiness, caramel and black pepper. The finish is lush with richness and great structure.

(From 2006 Vintage) This blend appears to be very concentrated. It has a deep ruby/garnet core with a lighter, purple outer rim. It has an open nose, full of figs and cassis, oak, vanilla extract and chalk. This is a full body wine with firm tannins, balanced acid and a nice long finish. Pair this wine with a confit of salted duck leg, garlic and shallots, wilted mustard greens and warm German potato salad. The plate might sound a little abstract but the pair will do the trick.
