(From 2012 Vintage) Every year, when it is time to assemble the next vintage, we renew the conversation about what makes a "classic" Napa Cabernet. Our guiding idea is balance: richness vs. tannins, ripe fruit vs. dried herb aromatics, ageability vs. instant gratification. Each year we aim to balance the velvety textured cherries and plums from our Stags Leap Vineyard with the big bodied, black berried fruit of our Mt. George Vineyard to create our version of a Napa classic.
Ripe juicy plum fruit aromas. Medium to full body with a broad palate. Lively acidity leads to a fruity and persistent finish.
dense inky purple hue scents of maple blackberry oak black fruit citrus laced acids soft tannins tart cherry fruit clean finish with coffee and backing of oaky tannins
Red fruit. cherry on the nose. Mature red fruit, licorice, violet notes on palate. A little young, will soften up with time.
this was awful. too much bite and raw flavor.
excellent big red

Wine & Spirits(From 2003 Vintage) A brilliant effort, the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Solo (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) exhibits a dark ruby/purple hue in addition to a classic bouquet of graphite, licorice, black currants, dark cherries, underbrush, and fruitcake. Broad, full-bodied, and deep with moderate tannin, and terrific sweetness and length, it is an elegant, but substantial, authoritatively flavored Cabernet Sauvignon that will benefit from 2-4 years of cellaring, and should last for two decades or more.
