winemaker's notes: The 2005 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon beautifully expresses the full aromatic ripeness of this exemplary vintage. It is full bodied and yet refined, and consistent in its color, aroma, palate and finish. It has a dark garnet color and a nose of black cherry, clove, cinnamon, lavender and licorice. It is seamless on the palate with a solid core of berry fruit, velvety tannins and excellent length. With proper cellaring it should give drinking pleasure through 2032. critical acclaim: "A classic Alexander Valley cabernet, this is dark and cedary, and as smooth as velvet. The tannins last, built on black cherry-skin flavor and earthy, root-vegetable notes. With time, that black cherry flavor should become more prominent, balancing the wines earthy complexities. Drink this over the next several years with anything meaty, from duck and game birds to steak." 92 Points Wine & Spirits

oak and rich berry on the nose- a dense and heavy palate, overwhelming tannins, it's quite tasty, but it really needs to age a few more years. tastes luscious on the sides of the tongue, perhaps a black cherry

in a blind tastingof 05 silver oak and 07 opus one, dad Jimmy and Susan thought this was opus one, ie, the better ofthe two. smaller nose, vines, dust, mild tannin & good flavor
