(From «nv» Vintage) Opens with a nose of ripe cherry and blackberry aromas with earthy cedar and baking spice accents. The palate unfolds to reveal richer, darker flavors of plum, toasted hazelnut, and graphite. It is full in the mouth, with polished tannins and flavors of toasty oak on the finish.
Best 2010–2015. 93 pts winemaker's notes: This elegantly crafted, balanced wine is marked by fine, pure, ripe blackberry and cassis flavors and aromas with notes of spice, cedar and discreet vanilla set in a silky texture supported by refined tannins. "This is a dark, big, deeply flavored Cabernet whose tannic structure strongly suggests mid- to long-term aging. Bone dry, it has flashy flavors of black currants, dark chocolate and cedar. Very fine. If not longer in a proper cellar." 93 Points Wine Enthusiast March 2009 user reviews: Napa Native - Napa, CA This wine is a secret value. Just compare it to it's Napa neighbors, Cakebread for example which is right next door and you will see what a value it is @ $40. New owners took over three years ago and the quality has silently been going through the roof. Buy it now while you can still get it and before it is priced more like it's neighbors
this is a really good one. nice balance. tannins are soft so you can eat it with anything. fruity. this would make a great house wine.
excellent taste. ready to drink
Connoisseurs' Guide to California WinesIf always somewhat restrained, this well-focused young wine is very much keyed on honest Cabernet character. Its muted nose of currants, black plums and oak is paralleled by medium-deep flavors that distantly hint at varietal briar and loam, and, but for a slight drift to finishing dryness, it would be in the running for higher scores yet.
