(From 2012 Vintage) Dark crimson in color, this 2012 Alexander Valley Merlot displays aromas of ripe Bergamot tea, mingled with the ripe Alexander Valley Merlot fruit characteristics that include cassis, black cherry and mocha. The palate exudes an enticing mix of blackberry, forest floor and dried herbs, while staying mildly concentrated and elegant. It finishes with a long finish of tea and dried herbs coupled with minerality.
Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines9% Petit Verdot; 5% Cabernet Sauvignon; 4% Petite Sirah; 3% Malbec. Showing a strong theme of sweet cherries and lots of rich, caramelly oak from its aromas to its flavors and finish, this balanced and carefully polished Merlot continues the string of recent Sebastiani successes. It is light on tannin yet still shows some spine, and its accessible, wide-open style makes it easy to recommend for drinking soon.
