Plantagenet Riesling

Wine Details

Wine Description

(2008 Vintage) Plantagenet’s winemaking philosophy in producing premium quality Riesling is based around cool processing temperatures and minimizing exposure to oxygen. These techniques preserve fruit character and avoid premature ageing. The grapes are harvested at night and run off skins almost immediately, leaving the majority of the free run juice clear of solids. The juice is then cold settled and racked prior to fermentation at temperatures of 12-15 degrees celcuis. The resulting wine is extremely fresh and bright in its youth, yet will age gracefully for 10 - 20 years.cold at night with just read more...the free run juice and first pressings kept for our Riesling. The crystal clear juice is racked off lees, inoculated with a neutral yeast strain, fermented cold and gently cleaned up post ferment. The desired outcome is to produce a vibrant fresh wine with clean lines and great length that will age for 10 - 20 years to develop wonderful toasty, honeyed characters that compliment the natural fruit characters." (2008 Vintage) Rating: 90/100 - As reviewed by Wine & Spirits Magazine on 10/09. This lively riesling backs up its fragrant, juicy peach flavor with firm green apple acidity. It's rich in the middle, talcky and saline in the end. For grilled prawns.
