Pahlmeyer Jayson Red Napa Valley

Wine Description

(From 2012 Vintage) Infinitely satisfying, the 2012 Jayson Red is rich garnet in color with a sparkling ruby edge. Brilliant notes of red and blue berries leap from the glass, accompanied by a hint of warm dust. Ripe raspberry flavors swirl with Bing cherry coat the mouth, while layers of dark chocolate cherry, bittersweet cocoa nibs, earthy minerality, a touch of spicy graham flour and suggestion of sweet cedar hold the seconds captive on the lingering finish.

PORTHOS INSIDER SCOOP: Pahlmeyer is a personal favorite and one of a few Cabernets I collect for the Porthos Personal cellar each vintage. Pahlmeyer has been a 'cult' collector sensation ever since it was featured as actress Demi Moores favorite wine in the 1994 film, Disclosure, starring Michael Douglas. Thanks to our friendship with proprietor Jayson Pahlmeyer, Porthos is allocated more of this wine than any other source but the demand is still far higher than our limited 'supply'! Porthos Taste? An extremely rich, plush, sophisticated style with great intensity and concentration, offering layers of currant, black cherry, melted chocolate and cedar notes floating along a silky smooth texture. Shows restraint and nuance on the finish. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Best from 2008 through 2012. (hide)
