(From 2011 Vintage) Thea’s Selection is the measuring stick of our success as growers and winemakers. A blend from blocks in each of our vineyards, Thea’s expresses the vintage, our intentions and our efforts perhaps more than any other. The earthy nose of the 2011 Thea’s shows fruit cake, black cherry and buttered rye bread, while expressing fennel and spice in a lovely, delicate way. The wine’s medium body centers around cranberry, black cherry and resonant spice that lead to a long, savory finish. We are pleased with the textural silk and finesse of this wine.

Connoisseurs' Guide to California WinesEnormously rich in both ripe, concentrated black cherry fruit and in toasty, creamy oak, the nose of this medium-full-bodied effort jumps out of the glass and suggests that a bold, fairly dramatic wine is going to follow in the mouth. Instead, there is far more refinement than expected, and while there are also deep, fleshy notes at entry, it is the wine's balance and palate-cleansing acid that ultimately tells the tale here. Look for this one to grow into a smoother stance over time.
