2005 L'Ecole No. 41 Pepper Bridge Vineyard Apogee

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2010 Vintage) This bold, sophisticated and complex wine has dark, aromas of black cherry, cassis, and cola nut, with hints of sweet tobacco. Dense dark fruit is wrapped in nuances of cocoa and mint with firm tannins on a persistent finish.

  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
45% Cabernet Sauvignon: 45% Merlot; 7% Malbec; 3% Cabernet Franc. Geared more to polish than to extract and power, this firmly balanced middleweight smacks of ripe cherries and vanilla while keeping overt ripeness in check. It is bound up in fairly dry tannins just now and ends with a slight alum-like pucker, and it may take ten or more years before its astringency softens.
