2005 Kenwood Vineyards Merlot Sonoma County

Winemaker's Notes

(From «nv» Vintage) Kenwood Vineyards creates its award-winning Sonoma County Merlot from vineyards located in the Sonoma, Dry Creek and Alexander Valleys. Grapes sourced from Sonoma Valley provide good color and excellent texture. The blend is balanced with fruit from the warmer Dry Creek and Alexander Valley regions that grow grapes with a more fruit forward character. The resulting wine is ripe, supple and well-proportioned.

Expert Reviews
  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
As much as we enjoy the Kenwood Reserve also reviewed here, we fail to find much to like in this austere and underfilled wine. It is clean and compact in the nose but downright stiff across the palate with intrusive acids and a puckery back end that rob it of any and all charm.
