Gundlach Bundschu Chardonnay Rhinefarm Vineyard Sonoma Valley

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2003 Vintage) Aromas of white pear, pineapple and vanilla with hints of allspice characterize the nose. Elegant, complex flavors of sweet and sour lemon and a stony, mineral character fill the palate. Excellent acidity and balance culminate in a focused, fruit-driven finish.

Expert Reviews
  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
This lean and limited wine steers to stiffness and acidy angularity without ever finding a sense of fruit filling. It shows more than a little oak, but its barrel influences wind up bringing a bit of unbuffered bitterness to the finish owing to its shortfall of fruit.
