Wine Description

This well-balanced, medium-weight wine offers bright acidity and a long, satisfying finish. The aroma is rich and evocative of dark cherries, nutmeg, caramelized apple, cinnamon, and clove. On the palate, it is full of plum, spice, cherry, strawberry, and vanilla oak layers. Though delicate and understated, this wine's compelling force of flavor, weight, and potent spice create a depth and density that cannot be missed.

Wine Review: This bright ruby Pinot from Goldeneye finished in 5th place in our recent blind tasting. On the palate, this wine opens with a spicy black cherry like bouquet with hints of smoke. On the palate, this medium bodied wine is round, a bit acidic, with ripe black cherry flavors with notes of smoke and oak as well. The finish was a bit tart and acidic, and subtle. The panel felt this wine could benefit from a little time in the cellar to integrate. They felt it would pair nicely with roasted chicken with garlic or veal. Ruby red, with some lightening toward the edges. Huge, jammy, forest aromas, herbaceous notes, a hint of leather or caramel. Very rich, with some silky texture in the palate.

(2007 Vintage) This wine makes a strong first impression: a bold hit of dark berries, a cool, spicy length of flavor that’s more than just fruit. There’s an earth tone to the tannin that adds a subtle black olive-skin or black mushroom savor. And then oak makes its presence clear. Supple and juicy, this should evolve well over the next several years.

(2002 Vintage) "This rich, hearty Pinot exhibits a broad, complex range of ripe black cherry, raspberry and wild berry fruit flavors that are well-defined and long and persistenton the palate, ending with a burst of flavor and ripe, supple tannins."
